Why Trees?

When we launched UC Baby Little Steps, we asked ourselves a simple question:

What symbol best represents the journey of a growing family?

The answer was a tree.

The parallels between a growing child and a growing tree are impossible to ignore.

The UC Baby Tree Planting Initiative began with a simple vision:

For more than two decades, UC Baby has helped expecting families connect with their babies before birth and celebrate one of life’s most meaningful milestones. Over the years, we realized that our responsibility extends beyond creating memorable experiences. The children we celebrate today will inherit the world we leave behind.

We wanted to find a meaningful way to honour each family’s journey while contributing to something larger than ourselves. Tree planting became that opportunity.

The journey of our Tree Planting Initiative has evolved over time, growing alongside the UC Baby community.

Our Partnership with Tree Canada

Our first chapter began with Tree Canada, one of Canada’s leading environmental organizations dedicated to planting and nurturing trees in urban and rural environments.

Through this partnership, UC Baby families helped support tree-planting projects that strengthened forests, restored green spaces, and contributed to healthier communities across Canada. Tree Canada laid the foundation for what would eventually become the UC Baby Little Steps Tree Planting Initiative.

Building a Foundation for the Future

Our partnership with Tree Canada showed us that families wanted to be part of something bigger than themselves. Each tree planted became a symbol of a growing family and a healthier future for generations to come.

Expanding Through Evertreen

As the initiative grew, so did our vision.

We wanted to expand our impact while giving families greater visibility into the projects they were helping to support. This led us to partner with Evertreen, a global reforestation platform dedicated to supporting tree-planting projects around the world.

Through Evertreen, our forest continues to grow while supporting projects that restore ecosystems, improve biodiversity, absorb carbon emissions, and create positive environmental and community impacts. Most importantly, Evertreen allows us to share that impact transparently with the families who make it possible.

What began as a Canadian initiative has grown into a global effort that supports future generations worldwide.
